ROBERTSON, Dr Peter Struan:
On Wednesday 5 August 2026, peacefully at Parkwood Lodge, Waikanae, aged 96. Cherished husband of Fay (dec.); much loved father & father-in-law of Richard (dec.) & Margaret, Hugh & Lea, Adam & Denise, and James & Helen (ex). Loved & respected step-father of Catherine, Hetty & John, and Robert & Hazel. Adored grandfather and great-grandfather of Kathryn & Wilfrid, Maggie, Wilf & Esther Robinson, Craig & Miriam & Levi, and Ian & Hillary; Jessica, and Matthew & Eliza; Michelle & Mikey, Sammy & Savannah Beck, Fiona & Juan, Gabriela & Amelia Garzon Robertson, and Anthony; Isla and Theo; Lena, Bessie and Meg Van Hale. Beloved brother to Ian (dec), Antonia, Sally and Sue (dec).
“An Interesting and exciting life” well lived
Thanks to the amazing staff at Parkwood Lodge for their wonderful care of Peter.
A private cremation has been held and will be followed by a celebration of Peter’s life at Cedarwood, 17 Parata Street, Waikanae, on Friday 28th August at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations to Nga Manu Nature Reserve in Waikanae https://ngamanu.org.nz/pages/donations would be appreciated.

I looked after Peter while I was working as a caregiver at Parkwood Lodge for a year between 2024 – 2025. It was always a pleasure to care for him. I don’t think he was short with me a single time in the duration of my time at Parkwood (which is not always a common feat in residential care!) He had such a good nature, an excellent sense of humour, and I am sure he will be greatly missed.
