RITCHIE, George:
On Saturday, February 14th, 2026, at Parkwood Lodge, Waikanae. Much loved husband of Mickey (dec), father and father-in-law of Iain & Malin, Jo & Chris, Will (dec) and Angus (dec). Father-in-law of Anick and granddad to Chiara, Tiane, and Cameron. George was a taonga (treasure) to all his family and the wide circle of friends he and Mickey had. He was also a loved uncle to nieces and nephews in New Zealand and in Scotland where he was born.
Our dad was an awesome father who instilled in his children integrity, honesty, and self-confidence. He was fun-loving, generous, adventurous and would do anything to help his friends and neighbours. Farewell Dad, to a full and rich long life well lived. Thank you to long-time local friends, June and Johnny and to the superb whanau at Parkwood Retirement Village who provided enduring kindness and exceptional care.
Donations to the Parkwood Trust Incorporated, PO Box 117, Waikanae 5250 would be appreciated or may be left at the service. A service to celebrate George’s life will be held at Cedarwood, 17 Parata Street, Waikanae on Thursday, 19th February 2026, at 11:00am followed by a private cremation. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed here.
