Liam, you leave such a legacy behind, not just for pilots but all people to live up to. It was a pleasure to be at War Birds over Wanaka this Easter weekend, just past, as on both of show days when the Bi-Planes performed a formation fly pass, the Missing Man was performed in dedication to you, it brought a hush to the crowd and brought up many memories of you, not only teaching but also in the Tower, when I would call up for clearance and you would recognize the voice and say hi.

You have respect of us all and may you have clear skies where you are heading.

We are so very sorry for your loss. Liam was a wonderful young man and we will always remember his 18th birthday party at The Waterfront at Raumati Beach, a joint celebration with our son Matthew who was also turning 18. We caught up with Liam a few times after that and will always remember him as being one of the nicest, most polite young chaps who always had a smile on his face. We were thrilled when he achieved his goal of becoming a pilot and he helped us organise a flying lesson for our elder son, Chris, when he was working at Paraparaumu airport.
We wish we could be with you today ( we live in Cambridge now) but please know we are sending our love and sincere condolences to you all at this terrible time.
With fondest memories – RIP Liam

I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of your beautiful son Liam. I taught him art at Kapiti college. He was such a special young man. His aspirations back then was to become a pilot, but was heartbroken at the loss of his close friend in a plane crash. He was wise, kind and mature way beyond his years as a teenager. Extremely talented in Art and music as well as smart and clever in other subjects. Mostly I will remember him as a sweet sensitive boy with a big heart. Moe mai ra Liam. Kia rere ki te wairua.
