Our architecture awarding winning, purpose built facilities offer the
perfect space to farewell a loved one.
The modern chapel offers seating for up to 200 people and has full audio and visual capabilities to ensure a personalised service tailored to your needs.
There is also built in live streaming facilities which enables family and friends from all over the world to watch the service at the touch of a button. A feature of the chapel is our Bechstein concert grand piano which has been restored to it’s original 1897 glory and can be used not only for funerals but for concerts and recitals too.
Cedarwood is conveniently located in the heart of Waikanae and has ample off-street parking. We have state of the art mortuary facilities onsite to ensure that the deceased is cared for by Waikanae Funeral Home from the very first contact.
The Lounge area adjacent to the chapel is perfect for friends and family to gather for refreshments following the service and to continue to share memories of the person whose life is being celebrated.
The Lounge also has a built in live stream camera as well as audio/visual capabilities and can be used for smaller, more intimate services of up to around 40 people. The doors to the Lounge open up to our beautifully manicured and maintained courtyard which is a perfect extension to the space on a beautiful sunny day.
Both Cedarwood and The Lounge are designed to be completely separate from the funeral home and as such are available for hire for other events too. We have hosted meetings, Christmas parties, anniversary parties, music concerts and other occasions at our multi-purpose venues. So, if you’re looking for a space for your next function please give us a call, we would be delighted to show you around our facilities and discuss pricing.
We have always been proud to be able to care for our client families and their loved ones with our own staff and facilities throughout the entire funeral process.
The installation of our state of the art crematorium facility in the Waikanae Cemetery, Ngarara Rd, Waikanae, surrounded by native bush has allowed us to further improve this service.
Our crematorium equipment has been sourced from Matthews Cremation, Florida, USA. Matthews Cremation is a company with a passion for the environment and a global leader in emission filtration. This cremator is the most up-to date environmentally friendly cremator available that exceeds NZ environmental regulation requirements and since its inception has continually been updated with any new technology available. This was important to us, so we have incorporated an eco-friendly urn in which to return ashes to families.
The beautiful chapel has seating for up to 20 people and, along with it’s native bush setting, make Kaitawa the perfect alternative for a more informal ceremony or final farewell.
The Tui and Kereru bird’s distinctive call is often heard in the surrounding bush and they are regularly seen in flight when in attendance at the crematorium. A feature of the chapel is an ornate stain glass window picturing a Tui that appeared on the NZ threepence coinage pre-1967, tying it in beautifully with the chapel’s surroundings.
The crematorium is available for other funeral companies to use by request.
